Our
Philosophy
In Anderson's we believe that people in residential care should
be able to enjoy a quality of life equalling, even surpassing
what can be available to older people in their own homes.
We
believe that good residential care should offer
- Choice
of individual lifestyle
- The
opportunity for real relationships
- The
means of attaining active participation within the wider community
Individuality
is important and actively promoted. Each person brings his/her
own personality and unique life experience. Each is encouraged
to continue to be, to feel, to express and to be recognised as
an individual.
It
is fundamental to this philosophy that people are encouraged to
express their individuality in the ordinary activities of daily
life, to choose their own lifestyle and not simply fit into routines
to suit the organisation of the Home. It is about the support
systems within the Home responding to the needs of individuals,
not people being "managed" by those systems.
We
are also committed to active policies of social inclusion and
freedom from discrimination.
Anderson's
Anderson's is operated by a charitable trust, The General Anderson Trust, which is registered with the Department of Inland Revenue - Scottish Charity No. SCO 11277. The trust is managed by a board of 13 volunteer Governors who are drawn from the local community.
The organisation is non-profit making. All the funds are committed to the welfare of the residents of the Home.
The day to day management of the Home is carried out by a small team of senior staff led by the Manager who reports directly to the Board of Governors.
