Anderson’s Care Home is situated at the east end of the city of Elgin in Moray.  As well as an ancient cathedral, Elgin has many interesting features within easy reach e.g.  beautiful beaches, interesting walks, castles and distilleries. The Home is only a short walk from the city centre and train station. There is a bus stop outside Anderson’s.

Anderson’s has a variety of lovely gardens.  There is the formal Victorian style garden which is a popular area in the summer for residents and visitors to walk or sit in; it also provides an ideal setting for our barbeques and special days in the summer.

The Courtyard garden is a very popular place for residents; beautifully fragranced plants and aromatic herbs thrive here. This secure, sheltered area is also a haven for wild birds and many residents enjoy feeding and watching the birds.
Our extensive vegetable garden always provides a source of interest and discussion among the residents as they “keep an eye” on progress especially when the produce grown ends up on their meal table.

There are also several fruit trees as well as soft fruit bushes like raspberries, gooseberries and blackcurrants.

On a fine day, after a visit to the vegetable gardens, residents often visit their hens. They may sit awhile and simply watch the antics of the hens (specially chosen for their friendliness) as they scratch away at the ground or come close to say “hello.” The residents also enjoy the lovely fresh eggs produced by the hens at mealtimes.
