Friends of Anderson

Friends of Anderson’s exists to ensure that Residents have the very best possible quality of life.

To accomplish this we:

  • Visit and join in social events and clubs such as the Gardening Club and Craft Club.  We also act as escorts when Residents are attending outside events.
  • Organise fund-raising events.  Our annual Daffodil Tea in April, an event in December and usually one other during the summer months.
  • The 200 Club has been up and running for a number of years.  Each member pays an annual subscription of £12, for this they are allotted a number which is entered in a monthly draw with prizes of £50, £20 and £10.  Applications forms can be downloaded here and also available at the main Reception of Andersons.

The funds we raise enable us to purchase equipment to enhance the well-being of the Residents.  We also provide a quarterly allowance for the Activities Organiser to enable them to pay for entertainment or purchase craft items, games etc.

Six years ago we developed the Courtyard Garden.  This small, secure garden is a favourite with Residents, thei relatives and friends.  Members of our Committee and friends maintain this garden on a rota basis.

Four years ago we set out on an ambitious programme to develop a ‘Heritage Garden’.  We applied for and gained a large grant from the ‘Heritage Lottery Fund’ which along with grants from other sources and our own fund-raising efforts enabled us to employ a garden designer and professional landscapers.  We also had help from various volunteer groups.  The result is a garden of which we are very proud.  It is now open to the public – we are keen to bring the community to Anderson’s and Anderson’s to the community.  The history of Anderson’s deserves to be known to the locals and tourists.

We are also keen to have new blood with new ideas.  If you feel you would like to help us – we would be delighted to hear from you!  We have a meeting most months on the 2nd Wednesday at 7 pm.  If you would like to get in touch with us, please email admin@andersonselgin.co.uk who will get one of the Committee to get in touch.

Finally, details of fund-raising events will be posted both in the main Reception and on the Website.  All donations for stalls, raffles etc would be very gratefully received.
