Accommodation
The Home comprises two buildings, Anderson's and Easton House. Anderson's is a large building, but internally divided into four seperately staffed units, which along with Easton House makes up five small individual communities.
The general layout of the building has taken account of the needs of people with limited mobility and wheelchair users. There are three passenger lifts in Anderson's and one in Easton House.
The location of the home is within easy reach of the town centre library, Cooper Park etc. There are parking facilities at both buildings.
Most bedrooms are single. A few double bedrooms are available
to people who wish to share but the recent trend is for these
to be converted into single bed-sits, in response to demand. All bedrooms have en suite facilities.
Each
unit has two or more bath/shower rooms with a variety of aids
and equipment to enable everyone to bathe in comfort.
Some
practical points
Furniture
Rooms
are fully furnished, but you may wish to bring in some items of
your own. There are regulations governing e.g. fire safety which
we need to take into account so please discuss your wishes with
a senior member of staff. We will do everything we can do to accommodate
your wishes.
Laundry
All laundry, except for dry-cleaning, can be carried out on the
premises and is included as part of the service. We will be happy
to arrange for dry-cleaning of garments locally. Residents pay the dry-cleaning cost.
Nursing,
Chiropody, Etc.
We work closely with the Community Nurses, NHS Chiropody service,
Dentist, Opticians etc. to meet residents needs.
Hairdressing and Hand Care
A ladies hairdresser and a gents barber visit the Home's Hair
Salon regularly.
Appointments can be made. Some residents arrange for their own
hairdresser to visit or go out to a local salon. The Red Cross provide a free hand care service.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy sessions can be arranged on request for residents.
Pets
For health and safety reasons, it
is seldom possible for us to accommodate pets but the senior staff
will be happy to discuss this issue.
Religion
We will be pleased to help residents maintain participation. Religious
services are held regularly. Some local churches offer transport for
residents.
E-mail
There is a facility for residents to access the Internet to send and receive e-mails.
Community
Links
Residents are encouraged to get out and about, to maintain interests
and activities within the wider community and we encourage the
community into the Home provided that this does not encroach on
residents privacy.
Charges
The rate of charges for residents is fixed by the Board of Governors
and is reviewed from time to time. Any increase normally applies
around March/April.
Further information on moving into a care home has been produced by the Scottish Executive and is available at www.scotland.gov.uk.
